Jonathan Burgess, LEED Fellow, WELL AP, has long held a passion for sustainable buildings and communities. He has introduced the WELL Building Standard to hundreds of people across more than 20 architectural firms, conferences, expos and classrooms, helping build a community of understanding about health and wellness in the places we live, work and enjoy.
"Every part of our journey is fueled by our tireless and enthusiastic
community," said IWBI Chair and CEO Rick Fedrizzi. "Each individual’s
dedication and expertise has helped us impact more people in more
places, and for that we could not be more thankful. We are extremely
proud of Jonathan and the contributions of all the award winners to
transform our buildings and communities in ways that help people
live happier, healthier and more productive lives."
In addition to his work tied to wellness, Burgess and The Spinnaker
Group team have helped facilitate the delivery of more than 150 LEED
Certified projects and more than 600 million sf of commissioned
building space, underscoring the firm's focus on construction of the
highest quality, sustainable building projects. Burgess has over a
dozen years of experience in landscape architecture and design, and is a SITES Accredited Professional. He has LEED AP specialties in Neighborhood Development and Building Design + Construction. Jonathan is also a LEED Faculty and WELL Faculty member. With experience in site design, land planning and project management for major public and private developments covering practically all land use types, Burgess is a much sought-after speaker and lecturer. He is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Miami’s prestigious School of Architecture, and a co-Founder and co-Facilitator of the Living Building Challenge: Florida Collaborative.
IWBI delivers the cutting-edge WELL Building Standard, the leading global rating system and the first to be focused exclusively on the ways that buildings, and everything in them, can improve our comfort, drive better choices, and generally enhance, not compromise, our health and wellness. This past year, IWBI launched WELL v2, the second iteration of the WELL Building Standard, and crossed notable milestones -- reaching 200 million sf of projects, over 100 of which are now WELL Certified. Burgess and the other WELL Leadership Recognition Award winners have played an instrumental role in WELL’s progress through impactful engagement, feedback and support.
