The Spinnaker Group is proud to be a Keystone
Member of the International WELL Building
Institute (IWBI). Our Principal, Jonathan Burgess,
is WELL Faculty and a WELL AP, as well as the
WELL project administrator for seven WELL
projects outside of the USA.
The WELL Building Standard, launched by the IWBI in the fall of 2014, is the first certification program focused solely on the health and well-being of building occupants. The WELL Building Standard
redefines high performance for buildings because it puts people at the center. The Spinnaker Group is proud to have several employees be amongst the first WELL Building Accredited Professionals and WELL Faculty in the world.
The WELL Building Standard includes more than 100 WELL features that can be incorporated into a project. Several features are mandatory and are referred to as preconditions, while many features are optional and are called optimizations. As more features are successfully implemented, a project can move from Silver to Gold to Platinum WELL Building Certified. The WELL features are organized into seven broad categories impacting health and wellbeing including Air, Water, Nourishment, Light, Fitness, Comfort, and Mind. New construction/major renovations and tenant improvement projects all can achieve WELL Building Certification.
